In what Pentagon officials describe as the largest single salvo of Patriot interceptors in U.S. military history , a U.S. Patriot missile battery stationed at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar unleashed a record number of missiles on the night of June 23–24 to halt an Iranian missile barrage . General Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, confirmed during a briefing that the Patriot unit—supported by Qatari air defenses—launched more interceptors against inbound Iranian ballistic threats than ever before recorded.
